OTAGO LAND BOARD

The ordinary monthly meeting' of the Otago Land Board, commenced yesterday, was attended by Mr D. Barron (Commissioner for Crown Lands, in the chair), Messrs W. Dallas, John Tough, and J. M. M'Kenzie.

Lee, Grave, and Grave applied on behalf of M. C. W. Buick for a license to occupy section 99, Block I, Papakaio district. — Yearly license granted at rent of £3 per annum.

J. R. Bartholomew, on behalf of James Trucsdale, forwarded an application for a renewable lease over section 42, Block 111. Lauder district, at present held by him onder yearly license. — Referred to warden for report.

A letter from the Department of Agriculture stated that section 10, Makareao Estate, was no longer required bj that department. — Ranger to value improvements, and lease of land to bo offered under the Public Reserves Act, for a term of H years, at an upset rental of 14s per acre, valuation for improvements added.

R. J. Jory made application for a grazing license over part of section 37, Block VI, Benger district, part of claim held by tho Otago Gold Dredging Company. — As this area was now held as a mining claim the board declined t' grant a grazing license.

W. Goinfr applied for the right of grazing on section 22, Block XII, Tauiuku district. — Declined.

The county clerk, Naseby, wrote with reference to the opening up of a road through small grazing run No. 226b, to give access to the coalpit at Laudcrdale.— Consent of Land Board granted to road being taken through sections 9 and 1, Block IV, Blackstone district, and small grazing run (226b), subject to plan by the authorised surveyor being produced. Lessee to be advised accordingly E. L. Twelftree applied for a lease over section 3 of 39. Block 111, Maungatua district.—Yearly license granted, rent 5s p?rannum. The board was requested to fix the rent for the area granted to Robert Toms, under ocupation lease in Block I, Bannockburn distriot. — Rent fixed at Is 6d per acre.

David Barclay applied for a renewable lease over the area fronting sections 25 and 32 and part 38, Block VIII, Tuapeka West district.- -Application to be advertised.

Robert Cotton applied for a grazing lioensa over mining reserve of 30 n soction 15, Block IV, Waipori district. — Yearly license granted, rent 20s per annum. Ranger O'Neill reported on the application by Andrew Donald'son, jun., for an occupation lease over 63 acres in Block XXI. Crookston district, surveyed as a dredging claim. — Declined. Ranger O'Neill reported that Ridd, een.. had fenced in and was occupying a piece of land on the opposito side of * ne road fronting section 60, Block 111, Benger district, without any title. — Ridd to be required to show by what right he occupied Crow n Land on Block 111, Benger district.
