HOSPITAL AND BENEVOLENT INSITITUATION.

1 ELECTION OF TRUSTEES. The annual statutory meeting of representatives cf contributing local authorities for the purpose of electing members of the Hospital Trustees and Benevolent Trustees were held in the Town Hall on Monday afternoon. The number of members to be elected to each body was six, and each delegate present had a separate vote for each district authority he represented. There were present": — Messrs Matheson (Roslyn), Geddes (Green Island), Yates (Kaitangata), Butterfiel«J (Maori Hill), Knight (Tuapeka), Dunne (Balclutha), Nicol (Clutha), M'Curdy (Peninsula and Tomahawk Road Boards), Charlton (Waikouaiti), Driver (Bruce), Miller (Port Chalmers), Phillips (Waibemo), Heckler (Waikouaiti), Inglis (Mosgiel), Blackie (Taieri), M'Farlane (St. Kilda), Du*hie (Milton), Clark. M.P. (Palmerston) ? Dickson (Portobello), Bridger (Morr.mgtcm), Powell (Port Chalmers), Hewitt (Bay Town Board), Green (North-East Valley;, and Talboys (Alexandra). BENEVOLENT TRUSTEES. * The following gentlemen were elected: — Messrs J: M. Gallaway, J. Loudon, E. A. Tapper, H. A. LeCren, H. E. Molier, and W. E. S. Knight. A number of other gentlemen were proposed, but declined nomination. HOSPITAL TRUSTEES. The meeting of delegates" for the purpose of electing trustees of the Dunedin Hospital was attended by the gentlemen named above, with the exception that Mr S. Solomon represented Mornington instead of Mr Bridger. Mr T. Mackenzie, M.P., wrote apologising for his nonattendance as he was on his way to Wellington. The following nominations were received : — Dr Bachelor, Mes£rs S. Solomon, T. Mackenzie, M.P., J. M. Gallaway, J. Loudon, J. Mill, E. A. Tapper, H. A. LeCren. A ballot was taken among the delegates, numbering 22, with the following results: — Mr Solomon, 22 votes; Mr Gallaway, 18; Mr Mackenzie, 17; Dr Batcheior, 17; Mr Loudon, 17; Mr Mill, 15; Mr Tapper, 11; Mr LeCren, 7. Messrs Solomon, Gallaway, Mackenzie, Ba-tchelor, Loudon, and Mill were declared elected. DUNEDIN CITY COUNCIL. At a special meeting of the Dunedin City Council on Monday afternoon Mr J % M'Donald (Mayor) was appointed to represent the City Council on the Benevolent Trustees and also on the Hospital Trustees.
