v CHRISTCHURCH, December 3. The executive of'the Canterbury Rowing Association resolved to-night to write to the Auckland Association for particulars in regard to its action, in substituting a youths' race for one of the high weight events, and drawing attention to the uiannsj in, which the events were placed on the programme of the championship regatta. The Auckland Association wrote notifying its intention to substitute an eight-oar- race to be rowed at championship regattas for a cup, to be held for on-e year, the event to be known as the Inter-Asso-ciation Challenge Eight. It was proposed that each affiliated club should nominate two men, the executive to eelect the teams from the men nominated. It was resolved to intimate that there were no eight-oar boats in Canterbury.

A Palmerston North telegram states that Mr J. R. Forsfcer Pratt, who was for many years hon. starter for the Manawatu Racing- Club, but who resigned the position to allow of the appointment of a paid starter, hag been appointed starter for the club's Christmas ine-eting.
