DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE.

The market during the week has shown some improvement in investments, several stocks having shown a strong firming tendency. Bank of New Zealands have risen 6s or 7s per share, and there are buyers now at about £8 10s. National Banks are also decidedly firmer, having advanced several shillings per share. Insurance stocks are in demand, and a fair amount of business has been transacted in them. Union Steams and Westport Goals remain steady, while Westport Stocktons ,re a shade- easier. - Milburn Limes are not In demand, with sellers asking from £1 10s to £1 11s. MosgieJ Woollens are on offer at about £2 17s ex dividend, and Portland Cements are offered at £1 8s 6d. Kauri Timbers were in demand at a slightly increased price, there being sales in the contributing issue reported outside the Dominion at 16s Id.

The dredging and mining market has shown no improvement this week. Sales in Alexandra Eurekas were reported at 4s. Buyers and sellers of Electrics are too far apart « to permit of business. Golden Treasures have been offered at £I . lls without a buying quote. Buyers of Manuherikias refused to go beyond 10s 3d, while sellers are asking lls 6d. Muddy Creeks changed hands during the week at £1 15s. There was a fairly close market in Sailor's Bend, buyers and sellers quoting 9s 3d and 10s respectively. The Big 'River Company declared another dividend, this time of Is, and prices were in the vicinity of £2. There were sales in Talismans on the local market at £2 2s 4£d and £2 2s 6d, and the market is now rather easier. The Waihi Company paid a quarterly dividend of 4s on the first of the month, and shares are now quoted ex div. Grand Junctions continue to fluctuate considerably, and prices are now weak, although reports from the mine are most favourable. It was expected that crosscutting from the bottom of the shaft would be commenced this week, and interesting developments may bs looked for shortly.
