CHINESE RAILWAYS.
j LONDON, October 15. A Chinese railway loan of £5,0C0,000 at 5 per cent,, with a currency of 15 years, and of 4£ per cent, afterwards, has been issued" at £98 in London and Paris. It wes amply covered, and is now quoted at three-eighths premium,. October 16. The Chinese loan was covered thrice over. The Times' Pekin correspondent advises that Mr Kinder, engineer-in-chief for the northern railways of China, has resigned, on the grounds that he is deprived of all real authority, and that his position is made intolerable by the Imperial Government. Mr Claude William Kinder is 56 years of age. He served en tha civil staff of tho Chinese Imperial railways in 1901, and was mention-ad in the despatches, receiving a medal and clasp. 'He has lately been general manager and engineer-in-chief of the Chinese railways.
