Peril in Plums.
The statement made by a well-known English doctor at an, inquest at Hackney on ' a child who had eaten some decayed plums that even good plums were dangerous for children is fully corroborated by other London physicians. "Both plums and raw. tomatoes are daagerous for children," said a doctor attached to a large hospital. "There is, of course, even greater danger in over-ripe or underripe fruit of any kind, but plums even iw good condition set up certain childish ailments which frequently result fatally in the late Bummer." Even such a pronounced fruitarian ,as Dr Joeiah Oldfield enters a protest against the eating of plums by children. "There is no danger in eating either peaches or ap-xioofce," i»e sw*d, "but plojna are the cause of much summer illness among children."
