NEW ALPINE MINE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) GREYMOUTH, October 18.
Tha New Alpine mine manager reports as follows for the week ended October 13 : "The main shaft was sunk a further 10ft (making the total footage to date lOSft) through hard ground, interspersed with soft seams, which made it good blasting; ground, but bad for drilling. The opening out set for the new level was satisfactorily placed in position. The preparatory work in connection with the opening of the new level is being pushed ahead with all possible despatch."
