THE MAORI TEAM.
SYDNEY, August 18. The Rugby League has decided not to sanction .its players participating in another benefit match for the Maori team tomorrow. The reason given for the refusal is that after the Maoris stating they were prepared to depart to New Zealand on Wednesday last, they entered into negotiations to play a match in Melbourne and to give hakas during the visit of the fleet. The management of the Maori team claims that everything has been done above board?" They justified their action in trying to raise funds after the failure of the last benefit match.
