DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS

Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report ahs follows:— As was to be expeciec 1 ! after the large entry for the previous day's special horse sale, the yarding last Saturday was a rather small one, but amongst the lot were a few good sorts. There was a fair attendance of the public, and a few buyers were on hand, but as most of the horses forward were not of the class in request business was limited. For draught mares our highest price was £51, and for geldings £39 10s. A number of farmers are still on the look-out for good plough sorts, young and free movers, fit to go into immediate work. The demand at present for young, active heavy draughts is very good, and young upstanding springvanners and spring-carters are also wanted. We quote: Superior young draught geldings, at from £45 to £50; extra good do (prize-winners\ at from £50 to £55; superior youngdraught mares, at from £50 to £60 ; medium draught mares and geldings, at from £30 to £40; aged do, at from £15 to £20; well-matched carriage pairs, at from £70 to £100 ,•« 6trong, spring-van horses, at from £25 to £30; milk-cart and butchers' order-cart horses, at from £18 to £35; light hacks, at from £8 to £13; extra good hacks and harness horses, at from £13 to £25 ; weedy and good do, at from £5 to £7.

OTAGO FARMERS' HORSE BAZAAR.

The Otago Farmers' Co-operative Association of New Zealand report:— We held our usual -weekly horse sale at our Horse Bazaar on Saturday last, when we offered 34 draught mare* and geldings, Tanners, 6pring-carters, and harness horses to a good attendance of farmers end town carriers. We had not many first-class draughts to offer, but those yte had sold remarkably

well. Good draught mares sold up to £45, spring-van geldings (for which there was good competition) brought up to £35, and good spring-carters to £24 10s. Now that farm wrk is in full swing, the demand for good working draughts has improved, and elifty sorts should meet with a good sale. Durinsr the week we made a number of private sales, and the market for animals of the right stamp, both sound and staunch, is brisker. Our Annual spring sale of Clydesdales takes place on September 3. We quote: Good useful draught mares and gelding^ (young and sound), from £35 to £45; lighter sorts and older, £23 to £33; heavy lorry pairs, from £80 to £100; useful plough mares and geldings, £30 to £40 ; pedigree Clydesdale mares, to £150 ; good sorts of Clydesdale mares, suitable for stud purposes and general farm work, to £50 ; carriage pairs, £80 to £100 ; springcarters (good 6ort6), from £20 to £32; upstanding buggy mare 3 and geldings, from £15 to £22; hackneys, from £12 to £15; lighter sorts, from £7 to £12.
