Wheat.— The first inquiry for good milling wheat for some time past was received this week, and millers, aa a whole, seem far more inolined bo do business at present rate* than formerly. On the other hand, farmeri s&em disinclined to sell, and refuse to put prices on their grain, being of the opinion fcba-t *faey will yet be able to obtain higher xatee. Value for prime milling Tuscan, and pearl is 4s Id, and Hunters 4s, while whole fowl wheat is bringing 3s 9d to 3s lOd, twit supplies are very difficult to obtain.

Oats.— There is very little, if any, improvement in the oat market. A limited quantity finds its way on the market each week for local consumption, but no export trade is being done from this district, and without thift supplies continue to exceed the demand. Quotations, based on eales, are a-? follows : —Prime milling, 3a to 2s Id; good 3hort feed, Is ild ; lighter sorts, Is 9d to Is lOd.

Oatsheaf Chaff. — Prices have fall-en a further half-crown a ton, and further sale have been made for export. A considerable quantity is now being cut ar.d delivered, and there is more hope of farmers being able to sell their holdings at payable prices. A few weeks ago there was an impression that a large quantity would have to be oarried over to the Jieyv season. Sales are being made on the basis of £3 12s 6d to £3 15s on .trucks at country stations.
