During, the past week business has been brisk, owing t< the fine weather and a desire on. the pajt of several holders to dis/post of their grain. Wheat changed hand? at 3s lOd to 464 6 per busbel, but no large amount of business in this cereal is reported. Several lines ,of oats have passed into merchants' hands, good bright Gaiton? at 2a and duns at Is lOd to Is lid. There is inquiry for potatoes at" 90s per ton. f.0.b.. Lyttelton.. a price that leaves a very small margin of profit. Stocks are small in this district, and in few hands. Best table Up-to-Dates are worti £3 10s .o £3 15s. and Derwents are about the came value. The advancing season »d large quantities still unsold in
the southern districts militate against higher prices. Chaff is dull of sale, £3 15s being the best price for prime oatsheaf. Inferior quality is unsaleable.
