WAIRARAPA v. NELSON.

MASTER-TON, August 16. Wairarapa, and Nelson hockey representatives met at Ma6terton on Saturday, and 1 the game resulted in a win for W-airarapa by 1 goal to n>l. The goal was scored in the second spell by Rue. The game was a poor exhibition of hockey. Wairarapa. played without combination. Tho forwards lacked good hitting powers and did not pass well, while the backs, with the exception of Hall and Boyd, were weak. Hall repeatedly saved Wairarapa, and, with. Boyd, wan veTy often left to stave oft an attack by several Nelson players. Nelson lost a, number of good chances to score through bad shooting, but Wairarana equalised this by doing -the same. All round^elson a defence was better than that of Wairar&pa. Tho home team at times showed good individual efforts, but combination was sadly laokinp. After Wairarapa scored m the second' spell Nelson made the game fast and open, and set up such a determined attack that it looked as if they would equalise matters, if not win ; but Hall in goal proved a stumbling block for the vifcitovs, and cleared his line in fine style.
