THE ASHBURTON MEETING.
I The Ashburton County Racing Club is I out with its programme for the spring ' meeting, to be held on September 16 and 17, and some well-endowed events find a place on the list. The principal races are to be the Aehburton Handicap, of HOsovs, nine furlongs, and the Tinwald Handicap, of 80sovs, one mile. The balance of the proaramme is made up as follows: — First Hurdles, of 60sovs, one mile and threequarters; Trial Plate, of 45sovs, five furlongs ; Braemar Welter, of 50sovs, seven furlongs ; Hack Handicap, 45sovs, six furlongs; Spring Handicap, of 60sovs, six furlongs; Second' Hurdles,' of ftteovs, one mile and a-half; Fail-field Handicap, of 45sovs, six fui-longs; Coldstream Welter, erf 50sovs, x .6i'x furlongs; Maiden Hack, of 40sovs," four furlongs : and Farewell Handicap, of 60sovs, five furlongs. In addition to the above are the Lona.beach Trot, of 50sov&, one mile, and the Winchmore Trot, of 50sovs. one mile and a-half. Mr A. A. I Fooks, the secretary of the club, draws ! attention to the- fact that under special car- , curnstances the association has passed his ' club's programme, so far as it refers to the trotting events, so that pacers will be 1 eligible for nomination. Nominations ' close on Saturday, August 29.
