A RECORD SALE.

Thp dispersal of the late Mr G. G. •Stead's stud and horses in training takes rank as one of the most important sales of blood stock that have ever been held in Australasia. There was a general concensus of opinion thai some of the stock realised sentimental prices, and some commissioners who ha-d fairly large amounts of money to expend were quickly knocked out of the bidding, whilst ot-her probable buvere would not enter into competition with some of five long-pursed bidders. Very few expected chat Golden Slipper would make 3000gs. but she was started at 1500gs and quickly ran to 4500g5. .The daughter of Multiform has grown and improved since she raced at the last C.J.C. autumn meeting:, and now looks to stand at least 16 hands. She looked a picture of health," and has developed into a really handsome filly. Her two-year-old sister Perle dOr is 6mallieh, and looks to have made her full value at 2000ge, but nevertheless is a neatly turned filly that is all quality. Of the horses in training, the imported mare Ringdove was sold at 1500gs. and is understood will carry the colours of the Messrs Stead Brothers. The bidding for Nautiform was somewhat remarkable, as, owing to having a slightly enlarged knee, he was started at 50gs. Bids were by no means 'fast, but eventually warmed, and the colt did not leave thp ring until the hammer fell at 1050gs. Orinulu, an importec 1 three-year-old filly by Orme, sold at

T 1550g5, and will also bs a bearer of the familiar yellow and black. Multiform looked well, and was carried by £250 bids to the price at which the hammer fell. Royal Artillery also bore a bright and healthy appearance, and will perhaps do better work in Aiistralia than has been the case in his native country. Boniform is a rare piece of quality, and although bs has an enlarged joint and a tad splint he walked perfectly sound, and it would not , be surprising to find him racing again. i All the high-priced yearlings filled the eye as very likely sorts, and one other thing that most people remarked was the manner in which Mr F. H. Pyne handled his clients. It was in a great measure dne to him that many of the horsss made such good figures.
