RACING IN AUSTRALIA.

V.B.C. AUTUMN" MEETING. Second Dat—Tuesday, March 8. The day was fine and cool for the continuation of the Flemi-ngton carnival. The morning was haey and overcast, but before the first race the sun broke through, and better conditions could not be desired. Every paort of the course has been freshened by the rain since Saturday, and the running tracks are in fine order. There was a large and fashionably-dressed crowd present, including Sir R. Talbot (State Governor) and party and visitors, including Lady Trafalgar. The racing was good. Chevally led off by riding a fine race over the hurdles. The Malster colt, which won the Ascotvale Stakes, was cold recently for 1600g» to a Westralian, who ran him to-day. In the Cup race the splendid start effected evoked enthusiasm. Along the river stretch Delaware and Ganymede* took up the .running, and the latter forged ahead at the bridge, leading Delaware by two lengths, with Enchanted States next, and then Peru. Enchanted States led at the abbatoirs, with Osrvmedea half a length away, and , Delaware and Peru next. The pace -was faster at -the sheds, when Enchanted States was sailing along from Ganymedes, Peru, and Delaware, with Tulkeroo, Apologue, and Booran making up the ground rapidly. Enchanted States leS the field round the home turn, and was first into' the straight. Apologue sprinted, but then died away again. Delaware went to the head of affairs at the distance, and Peru was pressing hard. The latter ran along* the rails, and won by a length from Tulkeroo, with Emchanted States, a length away, third.
