NORTH OTAGO D.L.F. JOTTINGS.

SiKJW UAi. Dear Dct, — We often hear of what D.L.F. in Dunedin or Invercargill are doing, but we never hear a wOTd of what is going- on amongst the D.L.F. of Oamaru and surrounding district, so as we take an interest in D.L.F. doings and saw quite a large number of the members of the band on show day and at th© picnic we thought a few note 3 may interest soms of our readers. Things that attracted our attention most were . That the important meeting notified by two energetic D L.F. workers was very poorly attc-ndocT, and the majority of the business had to be arranged between these two (Violet Rose and Giuha). That in discussing tbe site of the picnic Violet Rose thought last year's site was too near the sea, and declared she nearlj fell in. Here Giulia. exclaimed, "Oh. but we have prohibition in Oamaru now'"- which settled the site of the picnic. Vanilla and Giulia would make good detectives. They had plenty of practice at any late, trying to find stray comrades and sending them along to the meeting. Tatsy looks a true son of the Emerald Isle. He is never seen nowadays without his black thorn shillelah. Giulia's Niece was seized with a fit of shyness whilst being introduced to a few LF. ' comrades. Are you so shy, little chum, when you meet the members of the "tin kettler's brigade" ? A certain young man got no small surprise when he discovered that he had beeu walking about all day with a cigarette picture m his panama. Vanilla, Giulia, Corporal, and Sid may well be called "the laughing quartet." It is quite a treat to see therm all together, and it is to be honed they all turn up at the picnic. Mail Boy will make a good stcck rider in time. Your first attempt was very gcod, chum .• follow it up. Captain Jackson Barry, accompanied by his wife and child, were in Oamaru for the show, but he anprared to know only one D.L.F. Some there were who wordered what mpde a young lady stare when the Tokorahi train moved away, but it was no joke for those • were left standing on the <stafon watching a train running away with their bicycles; was it. Lady Stair and Giulia.' Violet Rose had two narrow e=capf= She mistook the TokaTahi tram for the rCgaoara. and jumped on a? it was moving oflf Firdmg her mistake, phe jumped off a°ain, therefore missing, firstly being seriously hurt, and secondly being "run in." Thus D O.D. whilst waiting for the resnlt ' of the draught horse competition- "That 1 mdpe must be a Scotchman — he's judging ] them very canny." * A large number of D L.F. gir!=* attended i the military ball in the evening, but where, 1 oh where are the D.L.F. bova? 1 Lenore is enjoying herself to her heart's 1 content in Oamaru. i We hope our D.L.F. lady scorcher has < quite recovered from her long ride, part of t which was a race against the Ngapara "ex- ' press. Never mind, comrade, you'll race a ' smarter train yet if you practise long enough, i Some one would like to know how Scots ' Grey was amuoing himself on Thursday 1 night, eh. comrade? 1 That the North Otaeoites expect a huge i

crowd at the picnic; so turn up one and all and make it a success. That we've had our say for a while so a wishing you all the me'rneet Chribtmaßes i> and the happiest of New Years, we will V "knock" off. — N.O C. t — — — — — _— w
