SERIOUS EXPLOSION.
MASTERTON, January 29. A serious explosion occurred at Mr J. C. Ewington's moulding shop, William Darvill, a nephew of the proprietor, being, severely injured. Operations had just been finished, and Darvill was running off the remaining molten metal in the furnace. By some means water found its way into- the place beneath .the furnace, into which tfcesunerflueuß- metal runs. As soon as the ' fluid metal was turned on an explosion followed, wreaking the blast ,furnace. Darvill Ihsid' a, miraeufou* escape Trom death. None of the others was injured. Darvill, vteho is a representative footballer, had his leg broken during- a match last season.
