ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION.
LETTERS FROM PROFESSOR DAVID. SYDNEY, January 30. Letters received by Mrs David state that Lieutenant Shacklcton has asked Professor David to remain with him in his winter quarters this year and to take sole charge of the scientific work, except the biological department, and also to take charge of the publication of the scientific results so far as they relate to geology and meteorology. Professor David has accepted on condition that when he reaches the great ice bai'rier he can stand the climate. Lieutenant Shackleton. thinks that Professor David will be able to stand the cold better than some of the younger members of the expedition.
