ST. PAUL'S CATHEDRAL.
.ESHDUOTION-ANI) PRESENTATION. There was a very.large congregation afi, St. Paul's Cathedral on Sunday morning, when the Yen. Archdeacon Gould, for «-nanv years resident in Oamaru, was inducted as vicar. The Most the Primate officiated at the induction, and after the ceremony preached an eloquent and impressive sermon. The Rev. H. J. Edwards read the lessons and assisted An the service. There was a full attendance of the choir, and the musical portion of the service was under the direction of Mr W. E. Taylor, choirmaster and organist. After the service a number of tne con,-, gregation met in the vestry to say goodbye to the Rev. H. J. Edwards, who baa acted as locum tenene for the last_.nino months. Mr"W. Burnett,- in presenting Mr Edwards with a purse of sovereigns, subscribed by the congregation, referred to the happy relations which had existed between Mr Edwards and the congregation, and to the very kindly feelings_ entertained! for both 'Mr andiMrs Edwards.- -"Mr Edwards, who exhibited considerable " emotion, exnressed. surprise ,at, the ..present*- , tio'n. ' He thanfied "Mr ' B.urnett for .his - kindly remarks, -ancT ' said "he- sincerely, appreciated the very- handsome present 'that* had been handed to him." He looked lack with feelipcfs of very great pleasure on the nine months' work he „ had had in eon-« nection with St. Paul's, and . those feeling* of pleasure were shared by Mrs Edwards.
