At a, meeting held lost week in the Duntroon Hall to consider the question -of the train service Mr H. A. Dovey *as elected" chairman, and Mr .James E. Tallentire acting secretary.- 'The meeting, after "discussing the advantages . and disadvantages of the different days for the trains "unanimously resolved — " That the- ,timetable arranged by * the 'Railway- ' Department (Tuesdays and Vridays) <ia the most suitable for the, country district, and this meeting understands that the people .of Kuiow are of the same opinion." "" v • ,~ The meeting .questioned the wisdom of Mr J. A . MacPherson, M.P., in discussing the train arrangements with .the Oamarui Chamber of Commerce before .consulting with his. own constituents, who had started the petition for the" extra train between Oamaru and Kurow. Mr A. 'Bell proposed' and Mr W. A. Wise seconded— " That Messrs H. A- Dovev, R. Hamilton, and J. T Sutherland be appointed a deputation- to meet the railway traffic . manager at Oamaru and lay the opinions of the country people before him.'-'.— Carried.
