SOUTH TAIKRI.

December 2.— Everything is beginning to look splendid. The crops generally are corai ing away nicely, and there is every prospect I of a remarkably good season for the farmer. i Turnip thinning has commenced on a few farms, but it will net be general till about ten days yet. The potato crop is looking -well, but appears to be Boniewhat later than: usual at this time of the year. During the past week the grass has improved, though it is not to be compared with what it was a few years back. Influenza.— This disease is very prevalent at tke present tizn-e in tills cHertr let ; B«veroJ.' people have had to take to bed during the past fortnight, it aleo seems to be much, harder to get rid of than has generally been the case. Sale of Land. — I understand that the land known as Berkeley Estate, Henley, has been sold to a- northern buyer. It is generally considered that the estate will now ba cut up- for closer settlement. The land is, I understand, of fair quality, and some fou> hundred acres is under crop.
