' QUESTION OF MEDICAL BENEFITS. A special meeting of the' Otago Branch of the British Medical Association was held on Wednesday, 10th inst., to consider the minutes of the meeting recently held in Wellington between the delegates of the friendly societies and representatives of the i Medical Association. There was a full attendance of members, and the following resolutions were carried unanimously: — „ (1) That the Otago Branch- approves of the resolutions agreed to by the delegates of the friendly societies ' at. the recent conference in Wellington. (2) That the Otago Branch ia emphatically in favour of a wage limit in oon« tracts with the friendly societies for medical attendance. (3) That, in the opinion o£ the Ofcago Branch, the salaries which have been paid for medical attendance in Dunedin by the friendly societies are now, in view of the increased coefc of living-, inadequate. (4) In the event of no agreement with the friendly societies on these essential points, it be a recommendation to the i council of the New Zealand Branch of the Medical Association to appeal to the Gcnernmenfc to appoint arbitrators.whose decision shall be binding on both sides.
