NAPIER, July 23. The Hawke« Bay Kennel and Poultry 1 Club's annual show wa3 opened to-day-There is a splendid show of dogs, tho display in this section being pronounced one of the best that has been seen in the colony. In rough-coated coHies, J. G. Parker's Mosgiel King gained the ohallenge trophy for dogs, and Neill and Rennie'« imported slut South port Sylvia the similartrophy for sluts, and also the trophy for best colHe of either sex in the show. In smooth-coated fox terriers, W. A. Smith* Napier Snowdrop won toe challenge shield] for the best fox terrier of either sex, and P. J. M'Shane's Zetland Bob the trophy for the best of the other sex. The trophy for the best wire-haired fox terrier was wort by J. Jamieson's imported dog ColteamoreAdmiral. J. W. Spence's Akarana- Astonished and J. Dickson's Cranston Loo secured cups for the best smooth-coated fox terrier dog and slut. W. A. Smith'sNapier Scallywag took the trophy for the bekt wire-haired fox terrier puppy. R. H. Sheppard's Armagh Arde gained the trophy, for the best Irish terrier dog puppy, and W. J. Harper's Ponsonney Kit that for tho slut puppy, and Janson and Clarke's Lurgan Looney \he cup for the best "dog. W.i '■ H. Townsend and Mrs C. H. Ensor's King Pluto was awarded the challenge certificate for bull dogs, and F. E. Watson'e Countes3 that for slut of the same variety. Jn th© poultry section the North Island championship for Partridge Wyandottes went to an adult cock shown by R. J. Chapman (Carte rton). The championship for homer pigeons went to T. Bullidc (Hastings).
