THE LOIN BILL.
(Fbok Oub Own Cqrbespondeht.) WELLINGTON, July 25. The Loan Bill, which was introduced to. day, provides for the raising of one million pounds, as foreshadowed in the Budget. The maximum interest to be paid is 4£ per cent, "the schedule of works to which the ! money is to be applied apportions £375,000 to railway construction, or £75,000 less than last year, when £450,000 was allocated to the purpose.- There is an increase of £125,000 as~; compared- with.' last year tor" additional rolling stock for open lines and such other works and purposes in connection therewith as may be authorised, the amount proposed to be allocated being £200,000. For roads, tracks, and bridges the amount specified is £350,000, cms against £400,000 last year. For similar purposes on the goldfields the amount is £25,000, and the remaining £50,000 is allocated in respect of telephone extension. The amounts iai the two last-named objects are -the «ame *» specified in last year's Loan Bill.
