WAIPHI.
May 14. — On that all-important subject, the weather, there is little to say. A few fine days have been enjoyed lately, and the chance has been taken to get some outstanding crop into stack. Some farmers left their stooks standing, thinking that stacking would not improve matters There is still crop standing uncut, the ground being too soft to take a binder over. '' Hope springs eternal," and the farmer still hopes for those " few fine days" which put matters on a better footing, and enable the last of the :rops to be harvested.
Our School. — In spite of the drawbacks of weather the repairs to the schoolhouse have been finished, and it looks well both inside and out. Some minor repairs are also being done to the school outbuildings, and the committee has obtained gravel to make the paths clean. There was but a small attendance at the annual householders' meeting, the householders evidently being satisfied to leave matters in the hands of the old committee.
The Shooting Season. — Sport has not been very good since the season opened. A few ducks have been got occasionally, but game is scarce and wild. The ducks must have left for the " sanctuaries " on short notice.
