A DISASTROUS FIRF,
A despatch from Juneau, which reached Seattle (Washington) on March 26. says: — The town of Wrangel was practically wiped out of existence late on Saturday afternoon. A tug came hore with a request for assistance. Tho merchants burned out pre Carlyon. Sinclair, Patornntnta, and Milligan, the Haley saloons (ownpd by Grant Hughos), the two drug stores of Wheeler and Hughes, the Wranjjel and Pioneer Hotels, the post ofiie 3 . the Sentinel newspaper office, the Olvinp c Rr»taurunt, the Sylvester E->tal« Building-, a wharf warphouse (owned by Robert Reid), th° residences of Warden, Fletcher, Coultpr, Weber, Loftus, Lamuor. Barnos. and Campbell, and a number of others. The Government and Custom House buildings wore saved. The lo«s will exceed 100-OOOdol. The fire stopped at tho St. Michael's Trading Company's store, which was saved, and at the Caslar Saloon, on the opposite hide of the street. Indians stole b'g quantities of goods, and an armed round-up is to be made after them. The five startod at the Pioner-r Hotel, in the second storey and buildings had to be blown up to stop the flamee. Wrangel had no waterworks, and little fire protection. Carlyou's store earned lO.OOOdoI of in^urai.ee, which was the only policy written in the town. The cti^ens ha^e issued an appeal for assistance to the coastal cities.
