i The Inspector (Mr William Rendall) reported as follows: — Hawksbury Riding: To put Mill ! road in good order wou!d require 300 cubic yards rotten rock and 366 yards gravel (esti- , mated cos-t £71). The footbridge across the Xenthorn Creek has been completed, and the gravel contract on Clark's road is nearly finished. The timber in the bridge at the corner of plantation near Waikouaiti River is much decayed^ and a new structure is required (estimates cost £34).— Resolved on the motion of Cr9 M'Gill and Duke—" That tenders be called for Mill road, and also to put the bridge near corner of plantation near Waikouaiti in repair. ' Merton Riding : The beams and decking of the toll bridge, Main road, require replacing with new timber, and the approaches require 20 yards of gravel (estimated cost £33). Buttar's road had been satisfactorily completed. There has been a washout at tbe lower eida of the bridge on Deep Creek, which requires about. 13 cubic yards of stone.—Resolved that tenders ba called for the works pointed out on the motion of Cr3 Gharlton and Kilpatrick. Blueskin . Riding: Pitt street. , Murchison, requires five chains formation and \ GO cubic yards gravel, and a culvert removed ; from centre of road to the junction of roads (estimate £14). The road leading to the back road in Evanscfale had been completed, and the metalling contract on Double- Hil! road is finished, but this requires 'attention before it ; gets set. A portion of the slip on Lower Harbour rocd has been removed so as not to interfere with traffic' but portion still remains. Steel's and M'L-ean's roads. Mansfordtown, require a. truck of screenings each, and the water tables cleaned at an estimated cost of j£6. It was resolved on the motion of Crs Kilpatrick and Duke— "That the work in Murchison be carried mt if the petitioners are prepared to do -the who'e woik for £7— half cost of the inspector's estimate, and that ( .he inspector be authorised to carry out the other recommendations." li'orth-East Valley Riding. Pipes have oeen put in a+ the junction of Sawyers' Bay and Hall roads, and the depression raised with metal. AH the metal on the Port ChalmersSawyers' Bay road has been blinded, and a of the w?.ter tables cleaned out. The ;~a3ual surfacing has been cairied out in the I various ridings.
