GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKET.

Messrs Donald Seid and. Co. (Limited) report: — We held our weekly auction sale of grain and produce at our stores on Monday. There were buyers present for nearly all the lines on offer, and with good competition we had a satisfactory sale, quotations for all classes of produce being well maintained. Prices ruled as under: —

Oats. — Consignments continue to arrive spasmodically, and in the absence of any fair-sizo^ linaq for shipment, are going

chiefly into local consumption. There is good demand at quotations both locally and for export, and as stocks are ■exceptionally low for this season of the year, present holders' prospects are good. We quote: Prime milling, 2s OJd to 2s Id; good to best feed, Is ltd to 2s; inferior to medium, Is 9d to Is lOJd per bushel (sacks extra).

Wheat. — Local millers have again been in the market for good to prime quality, and j all lines of this description have been I readily quitted at prices a shade in advance I of late values. Medium quality is also saleable, but is not in such strong demand. ! Fowl wheat is scarce, and finds ready sale I locally at prices beyond shippers' limits. Shipping orders are being filled at lower ] rates from other ports. We quote : Choice milling. 3s 5d to 3s 6d: prime do, 3s 3d to 3s 4d; medium-. 3s Id to 3s 2d; whole fowl - wheat, 2s lid to 3s ; broken and damaged, 2s 9d tp. 2s lOd per bushel (sacks extra). Potatoes. — Consignments have slackened, and with short supplies values have improved fully -10s per ton. At to-day's sale we quitted good table potatoes u>p to £13; medium, £11 10s to £12 10s; small and inferior, £8* to £d 10s per ton (sacks in). Chaff.— We submitted about 40 tons, chiefly prime oaten sheaf.. For this quality there is strong demand locally, but anything not answerir-g this description has little attenj tion from buyers. We quote: Prime oaten 1 sheaf, £3 15s to £4; choice, to £4 2s 6d; medium to good, £3 53 to £3 12s 6d; light 1 and inferior, £2 10s to £3 2s 6d per ton (bags extra).

Straw. — There is no oaten straw on offer, and a few trucks would probably realise up to 45s per ton. During the past week vheaten straw has been selling nearly up to this price, but with heavier supplies, best quality is j.ow offering at about 40s per ten (pressed). Hay. — We quote: Best clover and ryegrass, £2 15s to £3; inferior and medium, £2 to £2 10s per ton.
