EGG- LAYING COMPETITIONS. CHRISTCHURCH, September 4.
The statement for the eighteenth - week of the New Zealand Utility "Poultry Club's egg-laying competition at 'Lincoln College shows that the total number of eggs laid during the week was 894, making the total to date TJ644. The following are highest on the list for the week, the total given being for the eighteen weeks : — W. B. Howlishaw (black Orpingtons), 34 — total, 220; George Rollinson (black Orpingtons), 33— total, IS6; A. Leger (white Wyandottes), 33— total, 177 ; R. E. JM. Evans | (silver Wyandottes), 32— total, 347 ; P. j Presants (silver- Wyandottes), 29 — total, j 201; P. A. Rollinson (American white Leg- | horns), 2"B— total, 271; G. W. Halliday (Minorcas), 28— total, 167. For the 18 weeks the- highest on the list* are : — H. Hawke (silver Wyandottes), 481; A. M. Price (buff Orpingtons), 397; J. Mann (white Wyandottes), 369;- E. Wilder (buff Orpingtons), 356; A. 11. Bristed (buff Orpingtons), 354; R. E. M. Evans (silver Wyandottes). 347; Mrs J. Studholme (Anconas), 328; K. S. Cox (buff Orping- ! tons), 322; J. H. Shaw (brown- Leghorns), 320. Mrs J-' Studholme takes the August prize with 123, -and the following also scored well for the month: — J. H. Shaw, 121; E. Wilder, 119; H. Pannell (Partridge Wyandottes), 116; H. Hawke, 116; J. J. Royds (buff Leghorns). 115; A. H. Bristed, 113 ; F. C. Hack (silver Wyandottes), 113. During August 3525 eggs were laid, and the most eggs laid in one j clay was on September 3, when 139 eggs J were laid. a j
BLENHEIM, September 1. The following are the results of the egglaying competition for the month of August: — A. Ashworth, Alexandra South, silver Wyandottes, 151; Maryborough A. and P. Association, white Leghorns, 151 ; L. Clousfcon, Blenheim, black Orpingtons, 149; A. li. Thomson, Blenheim, black Orpingtons, 146: C. G. Brown, Christohurch, white Leghorns, 146; E. Traherne, Christchurclj, black Orpingtons, 146. The total number of eggs laid during the first four months was as follows : — May, 1405 ; June, 3972; July, 7980; August, 10966. September 2. During the eighteenth week of the New Zealand egg-laying competition 2769 eggs were laid, making the- grand aggregate 25,815 and the weekly average 27.69.^.The leading positions are unchanged, Leger'a figures now being 500, Brooks 465, Draper 385, Hawks 381.
