A LABOUR DEPUTATION.
PROBABLE VISIT TO THE COLONIES
LONDON, September 1. The Labour Representation Committee is discussing a proposal for consideration at another meeting in October for sending to Australasia, Canada, and probably to South Africa, a deputation representing all organised labour in the United Kingdom with proposals to bring the Empire's labour forces closer and discuss the fiscal question with a view to coming to an understanding on labour's attitude towards the Government proposals at the next election, and to support colonial labour legislation and experiments. It is hoped an Imperial labour policy will be evolved. A serious question is from what source to provide tEe cost of the deputation, if decided upon. Mr Ramsay M'Donald, secretary of the Representation Committee, interviewed, said: "We cto not propose to interfere with international arrangements or the colonies' fiscal matters, but we are anxious they should not throw their weight in favour of a movement which the Home Labour party opposes."
