SHOPS AND O.FFICES BILL. Conversing with a local shopkeeper this morning, an Evening Pest representative learned that there is great dissatisfaction felt at ths failure- of Parliament to expedite the amendment of the Shops and Offices Act. The dissatisfaction is greater, he stated, because there are 4-00 shops in the city keeping open in defiance of ths law by reason of an undertaking that certain shops may keep open without being prosecuted. As some of these shops sell ?ide lines that are the chief stock-in-trade of other shops that have to be shut punctually at 6 o'clock, the dissatisfaction is easily understandable.
