A QUERY.
Mr Murray writes: k" There is an item in last week's Witness saying that a watch taken to the top of Mount Blanc will gain 36seo in 24 hours. My watch gains that much at sea level, but while in Lawrence— 400 ft above s«a level—for a few clays, it lost over half a minute a day. How's that?" I cannot say, but perha|3s some reader can explain why a watch should gain or lose by ascending a height or going to any depth. Mr Murray also sends me thermometer and barometer readings. I find I cannot make use of these as I anticipated: some day I'll suagest a modified plan.
