OTAGO AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL SOCIETY

The monthly meeting of the comniittea of the Ocago A. and P. Society, held on Thursday, was attended by Messrs P. Patlullo (vicepresident, in tho chair), J. Gow, J. Patrick, T. Ritchie, J. Elliott, G. MaeEwan, W. Patrick, W. Burnett, A. Todd, A. Johnson, E. F. Duthie, .J. Angus, J, Lethbridge,' J. Ross, A. M'Faxlane, J. A. Roborts, T. Muir, W. J. -Charters, J. W. Blair, A-.- S. 'Orbell, and J. Ninimo. Apologies were received fiom the president (Mr James Hazlett), Messrs H. Buck-land. \V. Elackie, J. Tough, W. Souter, and J. Ship]. The Buildings Committee reported that the plans and specifications for the proposed additions to the annexa buildings had been laid before them by tine- architects entrusted •with drawing them up, and, alter very careful examination^ tho committee recommended that the plans proposed by Messrs Mason and Wales be pdoptsd. After discussion by tho committed and inspection of the plans had been made, the recommendation of tho Buildirgs Commiitee was given effect to, and tile secretary was instructed to notify the successful architects with a view to proceed ing with the woik as soon as possible.

The Grounds Committee reported thai the work m connection with the re-erection of the new stalls a-t Tahiuna Park was Hearing completion, and arrangements hacl been come to with the Tramways Committee, whose ]ieeommendation would be laid beu'ore the City Council at its next meeting", whereby the handling of stock wotild be placed on a satisfactory basis, ami the annoyance caused to exhibitors through paying a high charge for haulage from Dunedm to T'ahuiWi Paik would be douo away with.

It was resolved that the recommendations of tho cheese and butter experts, with a vie'v to popularising the various classes ot the winter show, should be given eficct to, and th-6 J.'flComlncijda.Uons were referied to the "Winter Show Schedule Revision Committco to adopt.

Mr John Roberts wrote that he had attended the International Conference, lie-Id at the Guildh-all on Oune 26, which was attended by some 80 or 90 representatives. Various subjects of lmporta.ncio to the colony weie discussed and dealt with.

Association wrote making susrgOot:cns in. connection With the judging of county bays and also suggesting the altarations in some of the rules lelatmg to this impoitant feature. — After considerable discussion the letter was referred to the Winter Show Sub-cominittca to deal with. Tho schedule of prizes in connection uilli -thr^ coming summer show, which is to be hekl at Tahuna Park on the 23rd and 24th 3S'ober, was carefully gone into, and various alterations and increases in the* priz« money were made with a view to still further popularising the interest ihat is taken in tho summer show. It was resolved that a special limeting of the committee be cal'ed for Thursday, 7th September, for the purpose of nominating judges for the summer show.
