DUNEDIN D.L.F. LITERARY AND DEBATING CLUB.
Motto: "Union is strength." Dear Dot, — The usual weekly meeting of the D.L.F. Literary and Debating Club was held in the Witness offico on Tuesday evening, I August 15 when there were present — The Prej sident (Harry), in the chair; Go Hon, T. D. A., j Lenore, C. C. M., and 28 members. The subject for debate was. "Shoiild Swimming L?s- , sons Be Made Compulsory in Schools?" The negative wps taken by Harry (leader), Anthea, Go Hon, and Areta, and the affirmative by Scobie (leadei), Brenda.' Aroha., Cornish. C. C. M., and Awkward jSTed. The iadges appointed (Jeannie Deans, Texas Jack, and Vance) gave their decision in favour of the affirmative having won the debate. A letter was received from our old chum Black Watch, and free criticism filled in the rest of the - evening. August 22- Jocular Evening — The following members contributed towards the evening's amusement: — Go Hon, Aroha, Areta, C. C. M., Harry. Fedalma, Xi! Despera.ndum, Awkward Xed. C. C. M., Didn't You Knew, Scobie, and T. D. A. A letter from Black Watch was also road at the meeting. — Yours truly. THE DUKE'S AMUSER. Secretary.
