THE AUSTRALIAN TEAM'S TO UR.
AGAINST LANCASHIRE. LONDON, August 22. The sun was shining when the game was resumed to-day, but the wicket was soft. There was a good attendance of the public. With the exception of Spooner, Garnet*, and Hallows, the county team failed to make any stand, and the whole side were out for 114. Following on shortly after i 4 o'clock, the team put on 45 for the , loss of one wicket, but then. Armstrong and Layer were entrusted with the bowling, and soon brought the innings to a close. The Australians won by an innings and 67 runs. August 21. At Liverpool fo-o*ay Lancashire and tha Australians met. The weather was fine, but the wicket, if anything, a little eoft. The attendance was fair. The county team is composed of the following .-—R. H. Spooner, H. G. Garnett, L. 0. S. Poidevin, W. Findlay, J. T. Tyldesley, J. Sharp, Cook, Heap, W. Hallows, Rowlands, and Harry. Gregory (who is suffering from a strain), Duff (who is laid aside by rheumatism), M'Leod, and Newland are omitted from the Australian, team. Darling won the toss, and sent in Hop* ktos and Trumper, the former being dismissed with the total at 22. Hill joined Trumper, and a fine stand was made, 185 being on the board before a separation was effected. Trumper's innings occupied two hours and 10 minutes, and was marked by fine driving. He hit off 11 4's and Hill nine. At the. last moment Cutlell was selected to play instead of Poidevin. Darling played sound cricket, and his score, which included seven 4'fi, was hit off in 57 minutes. It is now raining. Scores: — Australians.— First Innings.
