THE TAHUNA PARK CLUB

Some of the facts laid bare at the annual meeting of the Tahuna Park Trotting Club should make pleasant reading for those who ace anxious to pee the trotting horse take a more prominent position, in the sporting affairs of the future than it has done in the past. The club has now been ire existence for 15 year?, but it is only within/ recent years that it has got into a financial position which justifies one in stating that the importance of the gatherings held under its control show a prospect of seriouslyattracting the attention of prominent visiting owners. Clubs in the north have been, progressing with leaps and bounds, but our club has not made the advance which should) have been made by one of its lengthy standing. One of the principal factors in retarding the progress of the olub has been! that many ot our owners have b&an, antagonistio to the shape of the track, and now that it has had its faults, remedied, it is safe to predict that those who have been withholding their patronage will send along their nominations, and, bj helping the club.

incidentally help themselves and the standing of the trotting horse generally. From the balance sheet it is learnt that the club commenced operations last year with a credit of 10s Bd, and finished with one of £148, after a liberal increase had been made in prize-money. The track has been improved at a cost of £160, and there is every prospect of trotting in Otago being placed on a higher plane this year than it has ever previously occupied.
