CLEARING SALE AT WEST TAIERI.
Messrs Donald Reid and Co. (Limited) report laving held a clearing sale on account of Mr F. Periniskie, at hid farm, West Taien, on Monday, 28th inst., when, owing to Mi Perniskie having disposed of his lease of the farm, all the stock, implements, •etc., were offered icr unreserved sale. The day. proved remarkably fine, and there was a large attendance of .settlers, neighbours, and others. The stock being well known in the district, and the sale being known to be a bona fide one, there was no scarcity of buyers, and, taking into consideration that the stock was not got up in condition for a sale, the prices realised must on the whole be considered as highly satisfactory, The draught horses, which, although not heavy, were good sorts, and just put of spring work, sold as under: — Mare, six years old, £45 10s; mare in foal, aged, £35 10s; filly, rising 3yrs, £38; filly foal, by Cedric the Saxon, £22 10s; two colts, at JEIS and £17 respectively. Dairy cows were » good lot, but some were raflier low in condition. Cows in milk and early calvers sold at £5 to SI 2s 6d; late calvers, £3 10s to £5; steers to £4; heifers, £3 Is; calves, £1 18s. Ploughs, draysj and implements all made Satisfactory prices.
