Burke, of the CavendisL Laboratory, Gainbridge, 1 -while experimenting ■with, radium sterilised bouillon placed! together in a test tube, developed cultures presenting the appeai'ances of life, such as growth and subdivision. Mr Burke con. siders the cultures fit exactly Herbert Spencer's definition of life.
