Tbe return Association match Telegraph v. Mosgiel was played <m the Mornington Ground on Thursday afternoon. Both teams showed a marked improvement in form and a much better knowledge of the soccer game. The game, which was fast and interesting, resulted in a win for Telegraph by 2 goab to 1. Ross, at left wing, with, a g-ood shot, registered first goal for the Telegraph, and ;• {though the frontrankers on both sides spared neither wind ror limb, and the backs maintained a reliable defence, the first spell ended without further score. Bennett (Mosgiel), at centre half, played hard and with great effect, he and Sligo being especially prominent. From a strong forward rush the Mosgiel became ve.ry dangerous just before changing ends, but Illingworth (Telegraph goal) responded with a fine display of goal-clearing, his fisting- and throwing out being much admired. Playing uphill, Mosgiel forwards got well away, and secured a penalty kick, which Sligo with good judgment placed under the bar. With one goal eaoh the teams made every effort to win, and some very fast play eventuated. From a throw-in near Mosgiel's goal the ball was sent up to Brown, who centred to R. O'Connor," the latter beating the goalkeeper somewhat easily. Mr L. Gibbs controlled the game with commendable discretion, his decisions giving entire satisfaction to both teams.
