WANGANUI v. MANAWATU
WANGANUI, June 24.
The football match between Manawatu and Wanganui took place to-day, and resulted in a victory for Wanganui by 9 points vo 3. The game was played in heavy rain, and the ground was a quagmire. Play was chiefly confined to the forwards. Halfway through the first spell the ball was kicked over tiw Wanaanui linej and Stalker.
scored a try, M'Minn failing to improve. Early in the second bpell the Wanganui forwards rushed over, Corby scoring, while Takarangi converted. Halfway through the spell Arislow marked, and Takarangi, from the halfway, kicked a splendid goal. Stalker, Scott, A. M'Minn, Taylor, Whisker, and Hewiti played best for the visitors, and for Wanganui Guscott, Thompson, M'Gregor, Green, Butler, and Corby. Towards the close Mr Bassett, the referee, ordered Guscott, considered to be Wanganui's best forward, off for striking A. M'Minn.
