The prcspects of the Hartley and Riley dredge are improving, and I expect the dredge to strike something good any day.

Fair business was execxited on 'Change on Saturday morning, and the market had wXyie trace of firmness than otherwise. Electrics provided a transaction at 35s 6d, and Golden Runs two at 28s 6d, the former stock being firmer and the latter easier. Muddy Creeks had better inquiry, notwithstanding a falling off in the return for last week, while New Bendigoes and No Town Creeks both displayed and upward tendency. Quotes were not by any

n.ean? numerous, but in most cases the inqxiiry was good, though in one or two stocks holders displayed a. weakening. The Molyneux remains at the 4ft 9in mark at Alexandra, and as the frost appears to have broken up again, a, fmther fall of any consequence does not appear at all hkeiy.

A request for Central Charltons at 9s 6d met with no response, and Dunstaai Leads were placed on the market at 9s 3d without drawing notice. Electrics again drew slightly better notice, and a transaction was brought off at 35s 6d, additional buyers being in evidence at the same figure, and sellers at 365. Golden Runs were just a shade easier, but furnished a couple of transactions at 28s 6d, th-c closing quotes being — buyers 28s 3d, sellers 295. Majesties received notice at the previous day's rates — namely, buyers 2s 9d, sellers 3s 9d. Muddy Creeks dxew improved notice at 32s 6d, but holders remained steady at 355. " Nelson Creeks were about firm, but holders of New Alpine Consols were a shade easier at 13si 6d, buyers offering 12s. New Bendigoes were firmer, bviyers quoting at 6s, and sellers at 7s. No Town. Creeks were also firmer, the quotes being — buyers 225, sellers 245. Pactoluses were quoted at recent rates, but Riley's Beaches were a shade easier.

The cnly stock -which displayed any movejmeiii on Monday was Now BeudigOS, in which a couple of transactions were brought off at 6s 3d. Otherwise the market was extremely qttiei, and the two call-overs provided' nothing of interest. Electrics still display a hardening tendency, but Golden Huns and Pactoluses •were on Monday a shad© easier. __ The Molyneux rcmaiDs B+a.tioßary at the 4rt 9in mark at Alexandra, and has shown no change since Thursday la-ot. Alpine No. 2 shares had notice at Bs, v.-rth holders asking 20s; while for Central Charllons buyers wtrc offering 9s 6d, with sellers holding for 13 s 6d Buyers of Electrics were again offering 35s 6d, hut sellers hard«ncd to the extent of 6d as compared with Saturday, the price asked being 36s 6d. Golden Run buyers were easier, and holders firm ; and Hesseys and Junction Electrics were both placed on offer without drawing notice. Muddy Creeks were unchanged, buyers again quoting at 32s 6d and sellers at 355. Mystery Flats were procurable at 30s, Nelson Creeks at 20s, and New Alpine Consols at 14s, but none of them was accorded attention from buyers. A couple of parcels of Ivew Bendigos changed bands at 6s 3d, and at the close further buyers were in evidence at Gs and sellers at 6s 9d. Buyers of Pactoluses were prepared to give a higher price- than usual, but on the other hand holders were a shade easier, the quotes reading: Buyers 28s 6d, sellers 29s 9d. Rising Suns had buying notice at 21s, and a holder responded at 22s 9d ; while for Sandy Points buyers were offering 20s 3d with sellers asking 21s 6d. May 26.— Alpine No. 2, 9s.
