CHRISTCHUR.CH, May 17. At Addington yards to-day there was a fairly large entry of all classes of stock, and, despite tha weacher, there was a good attendance. Store sheep sold at improved rates, there being a better demand for ewes and hoggets. Fat lambs were very firm, and there was a little recovery in the price of beef. Fat pigs sold fairly well, especially lightweight baconers, but there was a very poor demand for stores. Store sheep and lambs. — A fair number for the advanced period of the season was yarded. There was a good demand, and all classes improved in price. Wethers brought from 13s 3d for culls to 19s 3d for good wethers from Marlborough. Ewes consisted of small lots. Lambs brought iron 9s to 12s for backward, and 13s to 15s for good to forward. Fat Lambs. — The entry was an unusually large one for the time of year, and the bulk was of prime quality. There was a good demand for export, and prices were fully 6d per head better than the previous week. Freezing lambs up to 421b sold at 16s 6d to 19s, and tegp from 183 6d to 21s. Fat Sheep. — There was a good yarding, but prices were about equal to those ruling last week. Prime wethsrs, 22s to 24s lOd; others, 19s to 21s 6d; good lines, 10s to 19s; medium, 16s lo 17s 6d; and aged, 14s to 16s; merino wethers, medium, 13s 9d to 15s 3d. Fat Cattle.— The entry totalled 166, and" was chiefly of good io prime quality. There was nicra animation in the competition than for some weeks past, and prices shewed an improvemsnt. A line of 10 steers from Mr Thos. Heavy weight baconers made 55s to A 6ss, eqi al to 4^d -per lb; lighter weights 38s to 50s, equal to 4Jd to 4fd per lb; porkers 27s 6d to 355, equal to 4Jd to 4Jd per lb. A line ofi cix prime hea\y weight Berkshire baconers from Mr J. Dysart (Kirwee) mads 63s to 655. There was a very dull sale for all classes of stores, small sorts being very difficult to dispose of at any price. Large stores sold at 18s to 255, medium 12s lo 16s, slips 7s 6d to 11s 6d, weaners 2s 6d to 63.
