Notes from Beefton. (From Our Own Correspondent.)

K-EJKJbTON, May 16. The Consolidated Goldfields of New Zealand (Limited) report on the operaitons for the month of April:—Golden Fleece: 1180 tons of stone were crushed at the 20-stamp mill for 5 a return of 4790z 4dwt 12gr of bullion, valued at £1961 16s sd. Nine tons of concentrates were produced, and 820 tons coarse sands cyanided, the latter yielding bullion of the value of £275 16s Bd. At the Energetic No. 7 level the cross-cut was advanced 54ft ancc No. 8 level driven 94ft. . The 450 tons of quartz crushed were obtained from the Energetic development. Wealth of Nations: During the month 970 tons of quartz were 1 crushed, the 20-stamp mill producing 1920z sdwt of bullion valued at £792 4s 7d. Six tons of concentrates were produced and 720 tons of coarse sands cyanided, the latter yielding bullion to the value of £524 0s Bd. Progress Mines of New Zealand (Limited): 4995 tons of stone were mined and transported by aerial line to the 65-stamp mill, where 5095 tons were crushed, producing 16570z 13dwt of bullion, valued at £6894 17s 2d. Ninety tons of concentrates were chlorinated, yielding bullion to the value of £942 9s 9d; 3020 tons of tailings were cyanided, yielding bullion to the value of £763 3s 6d. May 20. The Alpine Company's mine manager re« ports: —The rise was extended 10ft for thet week, making the total distance 228 ft. Tha reef averages 4ft 6in. There is no improvement in the quality of the stone from lasfl week. The Ulster Company's mine manager reports for the week:—The drive has been extended 14ft, making a total of 22ft from tha winze. The stone at present being driven on is not of such good quality as that on which, we opened out.
