NEW ZEALAND TROTTING ASSOCIATION.
The monthly meeting of the New Zealand Trcttine Association was held on Wednesday when there were present — Messrs P. Selig (president), C. S. Howell. W. Hayward. C. F. Mark. W. G. Garrard. A. L. Myers, and T. Marr. An apology was received for the absence of Mr J. H. Pollock. A letter was read from W. G. Rae, Auckland, with regard to the mare Dolly (late Otara). — It was decided to write to Mr Rae informing him tha-t unless he forwarded the statutory declaration, as requested, he would lender himself liable to disqualification for " ringing-in." G. E. Way wTOte with reference to auditing fees, and it was decided that the association could not depart from its previous decision.
The action of the stewards of the Otahuhu Trotting Club in dismissing a protest entered by tha owner of Carbolic against Macquarrie, fOT galloping in the Telegraph Handicap, was upheld. Correspondence was read regarding the disqualification, during the pleasure of the stewards of the Otahunu Trotting Club, of J. Brady and H. E. Tristram, for using abusive language to the stewards at its recent meeting. — It was decided to send copies of the letters to Messrs Brady aaid Tristram to the stewards of the Otahuhu Trotting Club, and to inform them that the association was not in favour of the indefinite term of disqualification " during pleasure." • The disqualification of persons and horses taking part in the unregistered meeting of the Charleston Trotting Club was removed, and the application for affiliation to the association -was granted, subject to the rules being complied with. The application of the Winton Trotting Club for affiliation to the association was granted.
The disqualification of the mare Ladylike was removed on condition that her owner p.aid a fine of £1 for usins: an illegal name. The secretary of the New Zealand Racing Conference forwarded a. copy of the amended Rules' of Racing, which were to be considered at the next conference. — It was decided to acknowledge the copy with thanks.
The President reported that the supplement to the list of horses registered was ready for distribution.
The disqualification of James Hackett (rider), P. Thomson (trainer), and the geldmg Mummell Childe, by the New South Wales Trottinp Club, for suspicious practices, was endorsed.
A bonus of £25 was voted to the secretary for extra work entailed in connection witn
the correction and completion of tie list of registered horses.
The Foreign Horse Committee recommended that certificates should be issued for Possum, Southerly Buster. Fancy Girl, and Orlando- and that M. Sheehan, the owner of Vesper Bell, should be disqualified for breach of rule 18 until the fine previously inflicted was ' paid. Permission was granted to the Auckland Trotting Club to hold its next meeting on the Takapuna course. Licenses as recommended by the Licensing Committee were granted. W. Orange's application was refused, and J. M'Lennan's was granted with a caution. Programmes as approved by the executive were passed. Mr " H. E. Jacobs" interviewed the association with reference to the disqualification for three months of his horse. The General, for racing while unregistered. — It was decided th »' no action should be taken.
