COURSING.
DUNEDIN COURSING CLUB,
A well-attended meeting of the Dunedin Coursing Club was held in .the Gladstone Hotel. The sub-committee reported that the Plumpton had been put in firsf-class order for the season. The secretary stated that 50 hares had been ordered, and would arrive in a few- days. Several nominations have been received during the last few days, and unless intending nominators for the Waterloo Cup hurry up they are likely to be left out. Arrangements are well in hand, and the committee anticipates having a record meeting next month, as several dogs from Australia are likely to compete.
After some trouble several young men succeeded in landing a couple of fairly largesized sharks on the beach opposite the Oamaru abattoirs the other night. The largest was Bft long and the other 6ft.
The Premier has intimated that he intends to return to Napier shortly and give an address. He finds that no Minister has spoken there for five or six years, and that it is time he (the Premier) -visited the place and spoke .Qg. matters of general interest.
