rIJSh ?": 2t . was found advisable to destroy last week owing to having sustained serious injuries, has always been a very popular horse with the betting public, and as a result of curiosity towards finding howmuch coin as well as confidence the flyine gelding has carried in his races, the writer's research through the records discovers the interesting fact that the totalisator has handled no less than £17,670 15s on his chances in different 'events. This does not include the races in which Goldspur started at the Forbury Park, wWe the bookmaker, handled the money in the absence of aY totalisator. Goldspur, when fit and well, was frequently a great financial thorn in the pockets of the starting-price merchants, and gave them many a severe blow in their banking accounts. In addition to the above amount, quite a large barrel of money must hare, been wagered at S.P. on "Goldy--" In fact, taking him all round, the" amount of bullion wagered by punters on their equine idol must have amounted to a tremendous sum of money. In all, Goldspur started in 105 races, of which he won 38, and his winnings in prize-money totalled £2809 16s. This dees not read great from a financial point of view, but "Goldy" was an unsound horse, and most of his wins were achieved in small races in which he carried heaTy burdens. i
