The Jockey Club has decided to increase xhe Derby to 1500sovs, alsti to increase the stakes in the weight-for-age races at the spring and autumn meetings by ]50sovs each. Several other events are increased by lOOsovs.

The monthly meeting of the D.J.C Committee, held on Tuesday, 23th ult., was attended by the Hon. G. M'Lean (in the chair), Messrs Myers, Thomson, Coughlan, Bullock, Hanlon, and Miller. Apologies were received from Messrs Solomon and Taggart. The Secretary reported that replies had been, received from several owners promising nominations for the hurdle races at the winter meeting. As the support promised was deemed sufficient, it was resolved to retain these races m the winter programme. •
The following transfers of horses engaged in the Champagne- Stakes, 1906, -were passed: — Wellington Park Stud Company to Thomas F. Fenton, Phoebus Apollo — Problem filly, Phoebus Apollo — Vivandiere colt, and San Francisco — Campania filly.
The Tokomainro Hack Racing Club wrote as-'king the club to recommend it for registration at the annual Racing Conference. — It was resolved that the request be complied with.
L. H. Hewitt wrote asking the committee to remit part of his suspension imposed at last meeting for foul riding to enable him to ride at the Chrißtchurch Easter meeting. — The application was declined.
The Secretary reported that he had cancelled Mr E. M. O'Brien's gentleman rider's certificate as it had been proved that he was not entitled to hold it. — Approved.
The new Rules of "Racing, snbmitted by the •sub-conimit(*e of the Racing Conference, were remitted to a sub-committee to deal with and report to conference.
