NOtes from Alexandra.

(From Otjb Own Correspondent.)

ALEXANDRA SOUTH, March 28.

The Stafford Wairnea Company's dredge and claim, on the West Coast, was offered by auction this afternoon by Messrs J. D. Buchanan and Co., and bought in by the mortgagees at £500. The Fourteen-mile Beach dredge is opening out. but the drift is troublesome. The Molyneux Hydraulic dredge is working st-eadiiy, the past fortnight's returns indicating that the ground is improving as the dredge vorks ahead. The Alexandra Lead dredge is also working steadily on her upward cut along the bank. Last week the dredge struck highly payable wash, and hopes are entertained that good retiirns will be put up for some time to come.

The work of sinking on the lode at Conroy's reef is proceeding apace, the prospects so far being highly satisfactory.
