Notes from Cromwell.
CROMWELL, March 28. The weather is fine and the river is falling steadily. It is now at a low level.
The Alpine Consols and Alpine No. 2 dredges should both get started dredging next week. The Consols is almost certain to get good returns right away, a? she left off on rich wash. The Alpine No. 2 will be closely watched, as a good many are under the impression that the hard layer over the wash was not broken through last winter. The Electric No. 1 dredge is still on very
rcugh giound, and th° returns will not be laige IjII this is pasted. The Junction No. 3 drodge started yesterday a little below where No. 2 stiuck the lead going into the bank. The dredge ought to get good returns when she has opened out. No. 2 dredge will probably shift down and work tilt rich ground belov.- the Junction of the two riveis again
