WELLINGTON. March 13. The Department of Industries ahd Commerce has received the following cablegram from the Agent-general, dated London, 11th anst. — " Mutton : The market is firm for light •weights, but there is dull sale for heavy '.■weights. The average price to-day of Cantev'lrary mutton is 4fd per lb for light weights, And 4Jd per lb for heavy weights; for other iN'orth Island mutton, 4d per lb; for lights and for heavy weights 3id per lb; for River Plate mutton. 3|d per lb for light weights, and for heavy weights 3Jd per lb. land lamb, Canterbury brand, is 6d per lb ; for New Zealand brands, other than Canterbury, s|d per lb; and River Plate, 4Jd per lb. The beef market is very dull, supplies of River Plate beef being heavy. The average price to-day for hindquarters of New Zealand beef is 3d per lb, and for forequarters 2£d per lb, prices being nominal. The butter market is very firm, and there is good demand. The average price of choicest New Zealand butter to-day is 106s per cwt, for Danish 109s, and for Argentine 104s. Trade in butter has improved greatly. There is better demand for cheese for which the market is strong, and all stocks are advancing. The average price of finest New Zealand cheese to-day is 53s per cwt. The hemp market is dull, and the price of New Zealand hemp, " good fair Wellington" grade, to-day per ton is £30 on spot, distant, deliveries being similarly quoted. The price of Manila hemp fair current grade on spot to-day per ton is £38 10s. Buyers have been offering for cocksfoot seed more freely. The average price for bright clean New Zealand cocksfoot seed weighing 17lb per bushel on spot is 51s per cwt. DUNEDIN MARKETS. ■WHOLESALE PRODUCE REPORTS Mr J.
